Rpi kernel image is not updated on upgrade

Description

When we install or update kernel, it doesn't copy kernel image to the 1st boot partition, which is mounted under /dev/mmcblk0p1 on /boot/firmware type vfat

Partially reverted a revert, so kernel upgrades should work again, even if DTBs will take no effect. Good thing the-Going is “going” to fix DTBs soon.

I dunno what was kept in the end since commits were reverted. The state of this should be considered broken until the-Going fixes it; I won’t touch this again. Suggestion is to keep rpi out of 22.02 release.

Almost there

  • i have downloaded (used one day old nighlty) xfce image so i got new kernels with upgrade

  • run update and upgrade. it failed. Couldn’t catch the message. something failed at installing kernel image

  • runned apt upgrade again and it finishes without error

  • probably we don’t need DTB package here at all?

Hmm. That’s a purge of kernel image and DTB, not upgrade.

Fixes done recently should help, but I confess I have not tested a remove/purge of the running DTB and kernel (what’s the objetive?), I suppose that will fail indeed.

There are bugs in flash-kernel scripts:
